OnlyFans Banning Sexually Explicit Content Starting this October

This News article is over 30 days old. As a result, information supplied in it may be out of date.

First reported by Bloomberg, the news that OnlyFans is going to start blocking sexually explicit content starting in October could affect millions of content creators using the app, and potentially leaving them without a source of income.

While nudity in posts is still allowed, it has to follow new guidelines that OnlyFans is going to start enforcing in October. This will definitely affect OnlyFans’ creators, especially since the biggest ones post the type of content OnlyFans is trying to block. But it goes even deeper as it is possible that the smallest of the 1.5 million creators could be hit the hardest with the new regulations, causing them to lose their biggest or only source of income.

This isn’t the only time that OnlyFans has tried to distance themselves from the pornographic content that made them as popular as they are. They announced a free streaming service called OFTV last Tuesday, which tries to focus on the more SFW side of OnlyFans creators. And it all boils down to the platform trying to appeal and bring in more Investors, as OnlyFans said:

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and the continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines,”

It is known that the success of OnlyFans is due in large part to the explicit content they host, and the more than 130 million users can probably attest to that, but can OnlyFans have a life after the sexually explicit content is gone, or is this Tumblr all over again? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Update: Full statement from

Effective 1 October, 2021, OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually-explicit conduct. In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines. Creators will continue to be allowed to post content containing nudity as long as it is consistent with our Acceptable Use Policy.

These changes are to comply with the requests of our banking partners and payout providers.

We will be sharing more details in the coming days and we will actively support and guide our creators through this change in content guidelines.

We remain dedicated to our community of 130 million users and over 2 million creators that have earned over $5 billion on our platform.

OnlyFans remains committed to the highest levels of safety and content moderation of any social platform. All creators are verified prior to being able to upload any content to OnlyFans, and all uploaded content is checked by automated systems and human moderators.

As part of our commitment to safety and transparency, we are releasing our first Monthly Transparency Report for July 2021.

So strange. By now companies like Onlyfans/twitter etc surely have seen that sex sells and people dont mind showing off their goods for cash. It’s not a secret anymore. Yet they insist on stopping some people to make money because of nudity.
