For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we bring you A Tale of Eden. The game was completed in 2019 and is the first game by 395games. A Tale of Eden features a cast of 4 unique girls with a story set in a fantasy world.
The player takes on the role of a sorcerer after recently being admitted into a wizarding school. Shortly before arriving at the school, A demon meets the player and binds herself to them. With the demon’s powers, the young sorcerer gains the ability to seduce the females at their new school. But with the promise of these new powers, he must also help the demon uncover a mystery that concerns her past.
The game manages to do some excellent worldbuilding alongside telling a good story. The player is informed of a few character’s backstories, without it feeling like exposition and ruining the player’s immersion. It all helps to cement the setting and the characters into a real world.
As with any developer’s first game, it certainly has some flaws. The biggest one being the ending that is rather abrupt and a bit unsatisfying. But although the ending is slightly disappointing, much of the game is still pretty enjoyable. The art especially is good in you’re into the more cartoony/claymation style.
