In the first part of this series, Steam as Platform for Sexual Games Vol 1, I wrote about proper steam settings for sexual adult games, shared my opinion about Steam’s sexual games in general and recommended a few finished games. I propose you read that one too so that you get the full picture of this topic.
The sexual games section of Steam is a different playground from what an underground sexual game player is used to. I see this as an opportunity for these games to reach the mainstream audience too. I think the average Steam player without background knowledge of this genre can easily pick up a random game and have a bad experience in this platform. That’s why it’s our responsibility to support quality games in Steam too because if the sexual game genre grows, that will lead to an improvement in the industry and we sexual game fans get better and better games in the future.
I know about mainstream society’s prejudice for NFSW sexual games. I heard about lot of people who don’t like it if friends see that they play these kind of games. Using an alternative account is the most comfortable solution for me. This way I can enjoy a full steam experience without any bad feelings. Adult game developers are trying to follow the trends, so achievements, cards and emoticons are available for sexual games now, so the opportunity is there to make a market and community. The best way you can support devs is to purchase their games and if you liked them, write a good review about it. Also there is a way to help a little if you short on money in that month, or are still hesitant about purchasing, you can add the game to your wishlist. This is a helpful thing because of the recommendation algorithm.
Just like other genres, sexual adult games also have episodic releases. This means the whole story is not finished yet but there’s lot of hours to play and you can continue when the next chapter is released. If a game is not a linear story but an open world sandbox game, we may probably find it under the early access tag until it’s finished. Let me recommend a few episodic or early access games on Steam.
Love & Sex: Second Base (Early Access): This is a free roam dating sim with 2D artwork in an early access status. The game gives you freedom in the game world, and it is up to you to do you want, and when and who will be your partner. There is an enormous amount of girls in this game, they are customizable by choices and you can potentially seduce them all. In that case of course you must reckon with the consequences. In this early access state it’s hard to find a balance so the game can be grindy for some people, but do not worry that’s why it has built-in cheats for the stats.
Love & Sex: Second Base is a free and feel-good experience in a city which is full of sexy girls.
Fashion Business (First Episode): This is a special game but definitely not for everyone. The protagonist is a spoiled rich woman. How bitchy her attitude gets is up to the player to influence by their choices. If you like the starter situation and would be entertained to see the protagonist fighting with difficult situations in a radical way then probably this game is for you.
Fashion Business is more entertaining than most of the sexual games if you can follow this unique flow.
City of Broken Dreamers (Book One): This is an authentic neo-noir cyberpunk world set in the near future. The main focus is on investigation but sexual situations always appear at the right time. It is rare when graphics, animations and storytelling merges so strongly like in this game. It is not a simple visual novel, more like a story rich cinematic experience.
City of Broken Dreamers probably have the most impressive atmosphere visual novel ever had.
Being a DIK (Season 1): This game is so nostalgic! If you feel sometimes that college life is missing from your life and you would relive it again, this is a great opportunity. Or if you missed out, this is a fun experience to make up for it. You can be a nice guy or a total party Chad but beside humor, story often leads to romance and drama, but I would say humor is the focus.
Being a DIK is likely the funniest sexual game if you can feel the college flow.
