How to Use Nvidia Moonlight to Stream Games to Your Phone

Sometimes, I don’t want to sit on my desk and play a game. I would much rather lay down in my comfy bed and play it there. Unfortunately, some adult games do not have versions that work on your mobile devices. Thankfully, there’s still a way to play these games with your mobile and unlike some other similar applications, this one is free.

Requirements

That being said, there are still a few requirements before you can use this app. Your mobile device needs to be running Android 4.1 or newer. In the case of Apple devices, you need to be running iOS 8.0 or newer.

You also need an Nvidia graphics card. If you don’t know what GPU you have and are using a Windows PC, you can easily find out by following the video below.

1. You can hit win+R or type Run into your search.
2. Then type dxdiag into run and hit OK.
3. Then open display 1 at the top to see your GPU.

GeForce Experience

Next, you need Nvidia GeForce Experience. You will need one of the GPUs listed below to use the streaming feature for Nvidia Moonlight to work. If your GPU is listed below, download Nvidia GeForce Experience from the Nvidia website.

Once GeForce is installed, you will need to create or login to an account.

1. First, you need to go into settings using the gear.
2. Next, you need to turn on Gamestream via the marked slider.
3. Next, you need to open Nvidia Shield.
4. Lastly, you need to add a game you intend to play with your mobile device. You have to add the .exe you would normally use to play the game.

Moonlight

You must install Nvidia Moonlight on the mobile device you intend to use to play the games, i.e., your phone. You then have to link your device to your computer. To do this, start Moonlight on your mobile device while connected to the same network as your PC. Your PC should show up automatically allowing you to begin pairing them. A pin should show up on your mobile device and you must enter it into the dialog box that pops up on your PC.

The last thing to do is to launch a game via the Moonlight app and see if it works.

One tip worth mentioning is you can use a 3-finger tap on your mobile device to bring up a keyboard which sometimes is required to name your characters or saves. To close the keyboard, use your back button or gesture on your phone.
